Advertising On Internet

Advertising on the Internet has been popular ever since the dawning of the World Wide Web. Corporations and businesses of all sizes use the Internet to advertise and nearly any web page you go to will have some type of ad on it. Consumers can go to any search engine and type the keyword relating to what they are looking for and they will be provided with a huge list from which they can select. This form of advertising has the great advantage of saving both time and money.

It has become really easy for any business to have a personalized website by which they can advertise, to directly interact with the customer; provide details about their product and services. Internet Marketing has the ability to provide site visitors with newsletters and special offers.

Since it’s easy to reach a large range of audience concerning any kind of business, the possibility of misuse is always there. Internet advertising is classified into 2 kinds of advertisement, legal and illegal online advertising. Advertising legally will have sites that use directories, desktop advertising, e-mail advertising or online search engine advertising. Illegal advertising is more commonly known as spamming. This is usually done by altering some system settings with the help of external applications, after which popups are sent to a particular network or computer. The external applications are known as adware or spyware. Some of these are really harmful, the most famous being Trojans, which are very hard to uninstall and remove from the system.

Advertising on the Internet is a lucrative business, as technology grows at a rapid pace and online advertisements are becoming very eye-catching. Vivid colors, good page layout and a lot of imagination are all involved. The most popular tool for designing advertisements is Adobe Flash. Depending on the technology being used, the designed advertisements can be classified into various categories.

If you want to include a banner ad on your website, then you can create it in HTML format. You will be able to select the ad category and size. Trick banner ads are banner ads that have an extra functionality of dialog boxes and buttons that are displayed as an alert or error message.

A popup is an advertisement displayed in a new window that covers up part of the active web page. A popunder advertisement opens in another window that is under the active web page and can be seen after the present window is either closed or minimized.

Using interstitial advertisements is when you have them display immediately over the desired page.

Background or Wallpaper ads can cover the entire background of the website page.

The ads that float on the screen are known as a floating ad.

Advertisements which are displayed in a video form on a website are known as a video ad.

Webmasters can use various ways to begin advertising on the Internet, such as: CPM, CPV, CPC, CPA, CPL and CPO. First is CPM; which stands for ’cost per mil’ and this is when the advertiser pays for the amount of people the advertisement is to go out too. CPV or cost per visitor means that the advertiser is meant to pay for the people to whom the advertisement was delivered. CPC is next; which stands for ’cost per click’ and that is when you get paid for the number of times visitors will click on the advertisements. Although the advertisement is put up on the website, the amount is paid only after the visitor clicks on the URL of the advertisement. CPA or cost per action means that the advertisement publisher bares all the charges of advertisement, but he gets paid only if the visitor clicks on the advertisement and purchases a product or signs-up for a service. CPL stands for; ’cost per lead’ and this is similar to ’cost per action’, but the visitor does not have to really buy anything, they can just sign on for a one time special offer or monthly newsletter. Lastly is CPO or cost per order, this is where the advertiser pays each time an order is placed.
